Getting a grip
James Toseland plans to put the dark days of his below-par MotoGP form behind him this coming weekend.
A top six finish in Holland last weekend has left him primed and ready to go in Sunday's American GP at Laguna Seca, California.
The Kiveton star has been tipped to drop back into World Superbikes after some ordinary rides and crashes during testing.
But changes to his Monster Tech 3 Yamaha YZR-M1 bike's set-up - designed to give him better rear traction in Assen - has made him confident that he has more grip than before.
Tosleand told Motorcyle News: "I just had more grip on the rear and it was much more consistent and that allowed me to do some consistent times in Assen.
"It kept me in front of the group and without it I wouldn't have been able to keep them at bay.
Assen has given a platform to build on and I like Laguna Seca."
