Winder treble seals semi spot

STEVE Winder notched a hat-trick as Ackworth United sealed a last four spot in the Doncaster and District Challenge Cup following a 5-3 victory after extra time against Hatfield Main.

Robert Gordon also netted a double as First Division United set up a semi-final meeting with Central Midland League outfit Yorkshire Main, who overcame Kinsley Boys 2-0. Gary Eades scored all three for Main.

In the Doncaster Senior League Premier Division, leaders Rossington Main drew 2-2 with third-placed Bramley Sunnyside, Ryan Smyth and Ian Donnelly on the mark for Sunnyside.

Sutton Rovers missed the opportunity to go top as Bawtry Town continued their good run winning 3-2, Damon Anderson grabbing a brace and Sam Weston also on target for Town. Gareth Davies and Luke Chambers registered for Rovers.

Ryan Till and Mark McDermott secured the points for South Elmsall United in a 2-0 victory away at South Kirkby Colliery.

Edlington Town won 2-1 at Swinton Station Athletic, Pete Dawson and Gavin Beardshall were the scorers for Town and Stephen Law for Athletic.

Strikes by Andy Kime and Ben Hodgson for Brodsworth Welfare were cancelled out by Carcroft Village duo Shaun Mundy and Joe Fisher as they shared the points.

Shafton Villa increased their lead at the top of Division One with strikes from Neal Clarke, Bayden Lockwood and Ben Pearson in a 3-1 win at Dunscroft United.

Goals from Jake Holdsworth and Thomas Sands could not stop rock bottom Askern Athletic from sliding to a 4-2 loss at Woodlands Rhinos. Simon Squire’s hat-trick and Joel Smith eased Rhinos home.

Peter Walmsley struck a brace for Bawtry Town Reserves but strikes from James Hendry, Daniel Porteous and Michael Smith saw Scawthorpe & Bentley Rhinos home 3-2.

Brad Atherton and Mark Barkham were on target for Sun FC as they drew 2-2 at South Kirkby Town. A Marek Szeszol strike was not enough for ISG Doncaster as they went down 2-1 to Highwayman, with James Taylor and Daniel Lee scoring.
