Doncaster Rovers Belles boss Gordon Staniforth says his side will not get too carried away with their table-topping position following their 4-1 thumping of Oxford United.
A thunderous double from Lauren Cresswell and first club goals for Reanne Thomas and Ashleigh Mills saw the Belles clinch all three points as they made it two wins from their opening two FAWSL2 encounters.
However, they had to come from behind against the hard-working Us and missed a string of chances in a frustrating first half.
Chances for Jess Sigsworth, Rhiannon Roberts and Millie Bright were all spurned at the Keepmoat as Oxford’s Sahara Osborne-Ricketts forced Nicola Hobbs into a smart save early on.
United then struck the opening blow when a mix-up in the Belles area saw Osborne-Ricketts pounce from close range in the 42nd minute for 1-0.
A curling long-range effort from Sue Smith saw Lambourne tip over to deny an immediate response from Doncaster during Saturday night’s clash at the Keepmoat.
But Staniforth’s side were eventually back on level terms after United’s ‘keeper picked up a backpass - gifting an indirect free-kick.
Left-back Cresswell stepped up to blast into the top corner for an injury time equaliser for the hosts.
The second half soon burst into life when Cresswell curled a stunning free-kick into the top right-hand corner from 25 yards.
The impressive Thomas later stretched to loft in Belles’ third - her first for the club since moving from Nottingham Forest.
And a stunning spell for the Belles was capped off when substitute Mills saw her cross-shot lob the ‘keeper for 4-1 - also her first for Belles.
