It’s not often that you see an English team teaching the Spanish a footballing lesson.

But take a look at the fantastic ‘Barcelona-style ‘tiki taka’ goal (from 52 seconds in on the video) scored by the Sheffield Stags in their 6-1 demolition of the Porcos Bravos, playing for the XIIth Anglo-Galician Cup at Gym Plus in Crookes.

The Sheffield Stags, managed by Ray Cundy, were formed after former Woodseats civil servant David Thompson’s stag night back in April 2007 in the Spanish town of Pontevedra, and Porcos Bravos (the Brave Boars) are his Spanish friends, a bevy of locals from lawyers to barmen.

David has left Sheffield and now works in the Gulf but the cup tradition carries on, now with a four-pint capacity cup.

Apres-fixture celebrations were at the Fat Cat and Kelham Island Tavern.

Scorers for the Stags were Ben “Torres” 5 and Lee “Flesh” Gordon.

Martin “the Goal Machine” got the consolation for the Porcos.
