sHEFFIELD Wednesday sprung a point over neighbours Sheffield United in the League One table tonight, as the see-saw of the two clubs continued.

The Owls drew 1-1 at MK Dons in a game they more than held their own.

Two own goals in the opening half hour were an odd feature of this game between two Play Off rivals.

Wednesday got off on the wrong foot first, goalie Stephen Bywater inadvertently putting the home side ahead.

But 10 minutes later, they were on equal terms, Scottish centre half Gary MacKenzie scoring in his own net from close range after build-up play from Chris Sedgwick.

MK were passing smartly and crisply and it took a while for the Owls to start to adapt to their style.

Owls threatened to take the Stadium mk by storm at the start of the second period, though.

Reda Johnson had a header cleared off the line and MK had striker Dean Bowditch to thank for saving them from going behind.

The away fans renewed their acquaintance with former Leeds United player Alan Smith, who came on to make his debut for Dons. The boos rang around the Buckinghamshire stadium.

The visiting fans were also unhappy to see two of their players booked in three minutes spell, Jose Vitor Semedo and Chris Sedgwick.

Sedgwick was substituted in favour of debutant John Bostock, who signed yesterday from Tottenham.

And manager Gary Megson introduced the pace of Jermaine Johnson, who came on for Gary Madine on 67 minutes.

But it was Bostock who almost turned the game when he won the ball and set up a dangerous attack, but his final ball was poor.

Wednesday seemed settled defensively, Miguel Llera showing some quality, in particular.

There was a potential flashpoint as MK boss Karl Robinson seemed to have an altercation with Johnson near the dug outs; Robinson was ordered to the stands.

Wendesday finished the stronger side.

Teams:

MK DONS: Martin, Chicksen, MacKenzie, Flanagan, Lewington, O’Shea, Gleeson, Williams, Bowditch, Chadwick, MacDonald.

Subs: McLoughlin, Smith, Powell, Baldock, Ibehre.

OWLS: Bywater, Otsemobor, Batth, Llera, R Johnson, Buxton, Semedo, Prutton, Sedgwick, O’Grady, Madine. Subs: Weaver, Morrison, J Johnson, Bostock, Lines.

Ref: Linington.

Attendance: 9,776.

POST 18--DAVE WITH THE CLAP ....SF is a pig love in now, all the Blades stopped going on there.... You still chasing off road bikers in the woods ? Losing 4-0 at home was bad but, Brum just battered dirty leeds away and are an in form team at the moment so imagine what they would have done to the MASSIVE if you had played them and you had NO SHOTS ON GOAL.... Good result for the Blades last night , remember the pigs on here spouting off about how you were only a point behind the Blades with a game in hand...Have a look at the table now my little pink chum

canadadick, are you for real? Still dribbling garbage from your mouth then? Get back on Sheffield forum and bore them with it. A draw away from home will always be better than getting battered 4-0 at HOME, no matter how many shots you have. You ell end, you give utd fans an even worse name

Gerimo Just proves how bitter and twisted the blades are. Personally I just feel sorry for them. But, I always have a good laugh at them. Comedy at its best from the stain.

How anyone can say they would rather lose 4-0 than a 1- 1 draw is beyond belief. I really hope you get what you want. In addition, MK Dons manager what a dxxk

Hey Canada dry, I'm sure we'd all like you to lose 4 - 0 and we get a point. Sounds OK to me.

Freezing night? That stadium although being modern is so cold that eskimos would be happy to live there. Talking to a MK Dons fan before the game and even he said that the cold air and wind that comes straight in through the open gaps at the top of the stands into the concourses is a design fault to be rectified next season. This being the reason the Carlisle game was called of a couple of weeks ago due to the pitch not unfreezing. How the hell does Tango manage to stay topless in this weather? Did anyone else have difficulty in seeing the ball at the far end because of the way the stadium is with being grey, white and stone? Or do I need to Spec savers?
