Beaten Premier Division play-off side Worksop Town face an uncertain future after resigning from the Evo-Stik League.
The Tigers took the step after Jason Clark, owner and financial backer, left the club.
A meeting was held yesterday between the Worksop board, two representatives from the Supporters Trust Board and manager Mark Shaw, to “discuss the next steps”.
A decision on the club’s immediate future is expected by the middle of this week.
“Following Jason Clark’s resignation,” a club statement added, “the Board has looked at the financial implications for the club and decided it is not possible at present to fund Worksop Town at Evo-Stik level without incurring losses.
“Therefore the club has resigned from the Evo-Stik League to help safeguard the club’s future.”
