Stocksbridge Roc-ked by winner in stoppage time

Stocksbridge Park Steels were denied a richly deserved point at FC United of Manchester when a goal two minutes into stoppage time gave the hosts 4-3 win in front of a crowd of just short of 1,900 at Gigg Lane.

The host took a fifth minute lead through a Carlos Roca penalty but Steels hit back to lead 2-1 at the break.

Jamie Vardy made a brilliant 70-yard run past three defenders before coolly slotting past the keeper on 27 minutes and four minutes before the break, Mark Ward silenced the home crowd when he fired Stocksbridge into the lead.

Two minutes after half-time Andy Ring made it 3-1, converting a Vardy cross from 12 yards. However, FC United were back in it on 51 minutes through Ben Deegan and Jermaine Wright levelled on 77 minutes.

There was heartbreak for Steels deep into time added on when Roca tapped in the winner at the far post after a long throw to condemn Stocksbridge to a fourth successive defeat.

Worksop Town scored twice in the final two minutes to earn a dramatic 2-1 win at fourth-placed Guiseley who looked on course for a fourth straight win when substitute Steve Burton curled a fine effort with just 16 minutes left.

But in a grandstand finish, Worksop levelled in the 90th minute with a clinical finish from Matt Glass after being teed up by the impressive Gary Townsend and a minute later, the Tigers snatched the winner when Townsend's free-kick was met by a powerful downward header from Tom Jones. Worksop are 12th.

Frickley Athletic climbed out of the bottom two after coming from behind to beat North Ferriby United 2-1 at Westfield Lane.

The visitors led through Gary Bradshaw's 68th minute penalty after Rob Pell was but Frickley sub Lee Morris equalised on 74 minutes after a Chris White free-kick.

Then White drilled in a stunning 35-yard free-kick for the winner just six minutes later.

Retford United were beaten at home for the first time this season as Marine left Cannon Park with the points thanks to Alan Burton's 55th minute strike. The Badgers played for 60 minutes with 10 men after Terry Barwick was sent off for a late challenge.

Buxton were held to a goalless draw by Nantwich Town at the Silverlands.

Both sides missed penalties – Buxton keeper Scott Hartley saving brilliantly from Ash Carter on 23 minutes and Gavin Knight had his saved with 17 minutes to go.

Poor defending was Matlock Town's downfall at Bradford Park Avenue where they were well beaten 5-2, their goals from Steve Warne and a fine individual effort from Ross Hannah four minutes from time.

Sheffield FC crashed out of the FA Trophy beaten 5-2 at UniBond North side Warrington Town in the preliminary round.

They were four down when Greg Wright scored on 83 and 85 minutes but Chris Gaghan completed his hat-trick in the last minute for the home side.
