The Gladiators took a 16th minute lead after Kevin Dawson miskicked in front of goal allowing Phil Joynes a simple chance. Dawson was involved in the second on the half hour mark when a mix up with goalkeeper Ben Scott saw Ross Hannah nip in to round the keeper. Hannah extended the lead firing home following a cross before completing his hat-trick with a fine left foot strike from the edge of the box. Matlock completed the rout through Adam Yates.
Sheffield FC went down 3-0 at Division 1 South leaders Barwell, who took a 2-0 lead into the interval with Lewis Dodd breaking the deadlock on 25 minute. The home side doubled their advantage five minutes later with fine Luke Barlow goal, bending his shot round Dan Whatsize from a tight angle. Sheffield had their chances and might have been level at the break. Smith saw his header well saved, while Brian Cusworth and Callum Harrison, saw efforts go agonisingly wide.
However, Barwell put the game beyond Sheffield with the third with Barlow hitting his second. Club were unlucky when Andy Gascoigne’s free-kick rattle the crossbar.
