It was a mixed night for the local teams in the Evo Stik Northern Premier League.
In the Premier Division Stocksbridge Park Steels were held to a 1-1 draw at Bracken Moor by Ashton United. Steels took the lead on nine minutes courtesy of a penalty from Anthony Lloyd.
Ashton levelled with a spot-kick of their own two minutes before the break converted by Aaron Burns after Kevin Davies was adjudged to have handled a long ball over the top.
Dominic Riordon headed narrowly wide in the second half for the Steels.
Frickley Athletic were thumped 6-0 at Chorley with Buxton also losing 3-2 at Hednesford Town while in Division One South Sheffield failed to build on their opening day victory over Sutton Coldfield Town after narrowly going down 2-1 at Kidsgrove Athletic.
The hosts broke the deadlock on 21 minutes but Club hit back to level seven minutes later with a superb 30 yard lob from Shan Kelsey. However Kidsgrove regained the lead when they were awarded a penalty five minutes before the break for what turned out to be the winner.
