Wednesdayite writing to club board

THE Owls are ready to listen to fan group Wednesdayite's ideas about taking the club forward.

Wednesdayite have said that they are to write to the club board this week with a "constructive proposal" to involve the business community and fans in an "alternative structure" that could spark a better future for the club.

Details have not yet been made public by Wednesdayite, who have withdrawn their offer to sell their shares to Geoff Sheard, but club sources indicate that suggestions from the group will be given due consideration.

Sheard has refused to comment on Wednesdayite's decison to call time on him.

Wednesdayite say that Sheard has not met the conditions attached when members voted in August to sell to him.

The group's statement said they had tried to give Sheard every opportunity to buy their shares but had been forced to conclude there is "little if any prospect" of any deal being completed with him.

But the statement acknowledged this did not prevent Sheard obtaining his stated aim of a 29.9 per cent shareholding through the three other major shareholders (Dave Allen, Keith Addy and Geoff Hulley].

The fan group also said: "We are still committed to our shareholding playing its part in a better future for the club and we have been active in trying to explore alternative potential solutions.

"In this respect, we will be writing to the club's board this week with a constructive proposal, seeking their agreement to involve the wider SWFC business community and fanbase in an alternative structure which, if supported, might provide the catalyst for a better future for SWFC."
