sheffield Wednesday fan organisation Wednesdayite are to offer free season tickets to disadvantaged supporters.
The scheme is aimed mainly at unemployed adults and children with long-term illnesses. Funded by donations, it is called Smile Season Tickets and is an extension of a matchday tickets initiative.
For every adult season ticket bought, the Owls will provide a free under-eight ticket. Wednesdayite will buy season tickets and allocate them on a match-by-match basis.
Wednesdayite director Marc Duffy said: “Linking up with the club’s own community programme will enable us to offer even more good causes a chance to watch Wednesday.”
Details of how to nominate recipients will be at Wednesdayite.com.
A collection for the scheme will be made at the Rochdale match.
