Wednesday seeking extra derby seats
WEDNESDAY are in talks with local safety officials to see whether extra seats can be made available to Owls fans at the Hillsborough derby.
Home areas have already sold out for the February 26 clash with United - a total of just under 30,000 seats.
But that does not include blocks at the ends of the North and South stands nearest the Leppings Lane end which are routinely left empty for segregation/safety purpose.
The Owls are consulting the local Safety Advisory Group to see whether these areas can be used.
United have been allocated the upper and lower West Stand - a total of 4,700 seats. They begin selling on February 6.
A Wednesday statement said: “SWFC would like to thank Owls fans for their patience during this particularly busy period of ticket sales and, as ever, issue a vote of thanks to Wednesdayites for their magnificent support.”
The Owls’ tickets went on general sale this week - after privilege holders had first bite - and 12,500 went inside three days.
With a crowd of well over 30,000 assured, it is likely to be the biggest attendance in the Football League this season.
The match was switched to a Sunday on police advice and kicks off at 1pm. It is not being televised. Wednesday have sold all their 2,200 tickets for the Blackpool game.

Friday, January 27, 2012 at 03:58 PMRef Post one. Only it won't be the biggest attendance in the Football League this season. Leeds and West Ham will see to that. The Championship is part of the Football League. Thanks to those idiot Wednesdayites who ran onto the pitch at the Palace game.
