Sheffield Wednesday saw off Port Vale 3-0 at Hillsborough in a game which saw Almen Abdi mark his Owls debut with a goal.
Tom Lees and Fernando Forestieri were also on target in Wednesday's last game before taking on Aston Villa on the opening weekend of the season, next Sunday.
With Sam Hutchinson nursing an injury picked up in Portgal, Jose Semedo deputised at centre back, while Daniel Pudil was back in an Owls shirt following his permanent move from Watford earlier in the week. The other new boy, Abdi started on the bench.
Wednesday had the best of the first half; Pudil's well directed volley from a Steven Fletcher cross brought about a decent save from Ryan Boot and Ross Wallace should have at least hit the target on 14 minutes after a minor scramble saw the ball fall to his feet but the Scot chipped over.
Five minutes later the Owls did go in front when Lees rose highest to head home from a corner.
Keiren Westwood in the Wednesday goal barely touched the ball throughout the entire half.
Abdi came on at half time, alongside Lucas Joao, with Gary Hooper and Fletcher replaced.
Six minutes into the second half Forestieri kept up his impressive pre-season goalscoring form with the second for Wednesday.
Abdi took just 12 minutes to mark his first appearance in an Owls shirt with a goal, delicately sliding home from eight yards after terrific approach play from the home side.
After that, Wednesday continued their stroll through the game, showing some neat play and producing a couple of half chances, but without adding to the scoring. Abdi came closest but struck the post with a fine effort from the edge of the box.
