George Hirst was on target twice at England under 18s beat their Polish counterparts 2-0 at Stevenage.
The Sheffield Wednesday striker gave the Young Lions the lead six minutes before the break when he slid in to convert an Andre Dozzell cross.
The lead was doubled just after the break when Hirst latched onto a mistake and was brought down in the box by Poland defender Oskar Repka. The Owls frontman stepped up to slot home from the penalty spot.
The match ball was almost snapped-up in the dying minutes when the prolific youngster struck the post.
Hirst, the son of Owls legend David, made his Sheffield Wednesday debut earlier this season in the EFL Cup against Cambridge, having signed his first professional contract in March.
With Wednesday currently struggling for goals, there has been a clamour amongst some sections of the Wednesday support for the 17 year-old to get another chance in the first team squad.
