Sheffield Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal turned the glorious spotlight on the club's players and supporters after the Owls' sensational victory over Arsenal in the Capital One Cup.

Ever-cool Carvalhal praised his team for their hugely impressive display but also said the most important aspect of the success was the fact that it meant so much to most of the 35,000 fans who crammed into Hillsborough to witness the famous win.

Speaking after goals from Ross Wallace, Lucas Joao and Sam Hutchinson secured a passage to the quarter finals, Carvalhal said: "I am very happy about the victory. I think we deserved the victory.

"Everything belongs to the players, they were fantastic."

He added: "It is an important victory for the club...a full stadium, a new generation of fans are happy, they know this is a big club. And the old generation of fans of Sheffield Wednesday can review the good times. This is probably the most important thing about the victory."
