Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted Sheffield Wednesday were well worth their win after a stunning performance by the Owls saw the Premier League side dumped out of the Capital One Cup.

Ross Wallace, Lucas Joao and Sam Hutchinson were on target for the home side in front of a crowd of 35,000 at Hillsborough on a famous night for Wednesday.

Arsenal lost Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and his replacement Theo Walcott through injury after just 20 minutes and the owls took full advantage.

Wenger said afterwards: "It was not good enough. On top of that you have to give congratulate Sheffield (Wednesday). They out in a great performance; very resolute, dynamic and so they deserved their win tonight."
