Dejphon Chansiri has offered his backing to head coach Stuart Gray after taking over Sheffield Wednesday.
Speaking at a packed media conference, Chansiri says Gray has his full support to remain in charge of the team while pledging to make funds available in the summer.
“I’ve met Stuart Gray. He’s a good man, he’s very knowledgeable about football and very competitive,” Chansiri said.
“I’m very happy with him, with what he’s done so far and today I give him my full support.”
Chansiri insisted he will not simply thrown money at the Owls in order to achieve success and pledged to be ‘intelligent’ in the transfer market.
He said: “We’re looking at making all the necessary investments to get the club back up into the Premier League.
“At the end of the season we will evaluate the players and also the market with consultation of the manager and the staff.
“I believe there needs to be some investment into the club but just throwing money is not a guarantee of success. We need to do it in a smart, sustainable manner.
“Some clubs throw a lot of money around in the transfer market and are not successful. Some are somewhat frugal but are able to achieve success because they buy smart.
“If we work together and are intelligent about our approach to the transfer market, we can make the necessary improvements.”
