Carlos Carvalhal is not expecting Tom Lees to be available for Sheffield Wednesday's trip to Nottingham Forest but there is a very outside chance that Gary Hooper may make the squad.

Lees has missed the last three games with a knee injury, with Vincent Sasso ably stepping into the centre of defence while Hooper hasn't played since the draw away to Fulham in November.

The Owls striker had initially picked up a hamstring injury in that match but upon making a return with the development squad, Hooper suffered a further injury to his quad.

In his pre-match press conference, ahead of the match at the City Ground, Carvalhal said that it is too soon for Lees to make a return. A further check will be made on Hooper on Friday, though the fact that there has been a long gap since his last game and that Wednesday are not short up front would make it unlikely the forward will be rushed back into the fray

"Tom Lees is progressing, not ready but progressing," said Carvalhal. "Gary Hooper more near than him, he is training now with the team he is not training as much as others but he is training. Tomorrow, I think he can start doing a little better and better. Both soon will be available for the team.

Asked whether the pair will be fit for Saturday Carvalhal added: "Tom Lees no, Gary Hooper you can consider him but let's see tomorrow. He is training with the team but the last game he did was 16 November, but he is progressing very well and that is good."

Sam Hutchinson (hip) and Morgan Fox (fatigue) both came off early in Sheffield Wednesday's 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday and Carvalhal expects both to be in contention for a place in the team.

"We expect (Hutchinson) to recover but we are not sure yet. Like (Morgan) Fox they are in a similar situation., We have good expectations to recover them both but tomorrow we will know. The game was a short time and some times a kick is one day and another is completely diffferent but we will see tomorrow."
