Keiren Westwood will miss Sheffield Wednesday's clash at home to Reading tomorrow, head coach Carlos Carvalhal has confirmed.
The Owls' reigning player of the season has yet to shake off an injury he picked up in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Ipswich Town.
The experienced shot-stopper was forced off with a kidney problem. He was taken to hospital and a scan revealed he had bruised his kidney.
Lewis Price, who has recently recovered from appendix surgery, and academy starlet Joe Wildsmith are vying to deputise for Westwood.
Carvalhal is confident Wednesday will cope without Westwood.
The Portuguese said: "I'm very happy with all of our four goalkeepers.
"Keiren [Westwood] is a fantastic goalkeeper but, at the same time, Joe [Wildsmith] has played well in all the matches he has played in. We are very happy with Lewis Price and Cameron Dawson is a very good goalkeeper.
"I would prefer all the players to be available but I am very comfortable about the goalkeeping position. I have confidence in all of the players."
