US software firm signs up for Sheffield Wednesday package
AMERICAN software company WANdisco are backing the Owls and the Children's Hospital by becoming the first to sign on for the club's new Platinum Partners sponsorship package.
The company were attracted to Hillsborough by Wednesday's link with the hospital, whose name and logo appear on next season's new shirts.
WANdisco are based in California and opened a centre in Sheffield last year.
Their chief executive is David Richards, a Wednesday fan.
He said: "We are delighted to become Sheffield Wednesday's first Platinum Partners, because there are genuine benefits not just for the club and ourselves but more importantly for the Children's Hospital.
"WANdisco probably would not have partnered with a football club in a traditional sponsorship deal but the partnership with the hospital illustrates how much value the club attaches to its community.
"We are really pleased to establish a strong relationship with the hospital as Platinum Partners and look forward to doing our bit to help raise funds for and awareness of the hospital."

Sheffield Wednesday set for Potter deal
WANdisco are organising a Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the hospital charity on the weekend of September 5 and are inviting local businesses to join them and a team from the Owls in scaling the three highest peaks in Yorkshire.
Sheffield City Council and Creative Sheffield have already pledged to take part.
David Vernon-Edwards, director of hospital's charity, said: "We are delighted that WANdisco have decided to form this special relationship with Sheffield Wednesday and our charity. The company are really enthusiastic about the work that we do and it is fantastic news that they have already set themselves a fund-raising challenge.
"We hope other local businesses will follow WANdisco's lead and join them on their Three Peaks Challenge. All the money raised will help us provide the latest medical equipment for our young patients and help the hospital maintain its reputation as a world class centre of excellence for the care, prevention and cure of illness."
Owls chairman Lee Strafford said: "We are delighted to welcome WANdisco as our first Platinum Partners and delighted to provide an avenue for more companies to forge strong relationships with the Children's Hospital.
"WANdisco wanted to be involved with Sheffield Wednesday largely because of our partnership with hospital's charity. The hospital is already starting to feel the benefits from this and hopefully WANdisco's challenge event will encourage more firms to become Platinum Partners."
