Sodje clan set sights on Africa with Hillsborough charity match
AKPO Sodje is promising a great day out at Hillsborough for all the family even before the new season kicks off.
The Owls striker is keen for supporters to back the charity match between a Friends of Africa team and a Sheffield Allstars line-up on July 26.
It will feature Sodje plus four of his brothers – footballers Efe, Steve, Sam and former Sheffield Eagles rugby league player Bright – plus nephew Onome.
The match – admission 5 – will raise money for the Sodje Sports Foundation Boots for Africa campaign and the Children's Hospital Charity.
Players on view will include Nwankwo Kanu, Dwight Yorke, Cyrille Regis and Deon Burton.
Sheffield boxing star Johnny Nelson and other celebrities are also due to take part.
"We want to give something back – I had no boots when I was young and trying to play football in Nigeria – and I am one of the biggest fans of the Children's Hospital," said Akpo.
The match is also on the same day as the club's open day.
