Sheffield Wednesday's eagerly anticipated Boxing Day clash with Newcastle United has been moved to a 7.45 kick-off and will be screen live on Sky Sports.

The holiday fixture at St James' Park was due for a 3pm start but has now been chosen for broadcast.

The last time the sides met was a little over a year ago when Wednesday won 1-0 away, in the League Cup, with Lewis McGugan scoring the only goal of the game against the then Premier League outfit.

Wednesday and Newcastle haven't met in a league game since the 2009/10 season when United won 1-0 at St James' Park in August after a goal from Shola Ameobi while the return fixture was drawn 2-2. Ameobi was on the scoresheet again, then, as he and Kevin Nolan cancelled out an early Luke Varney opener before James O'Connor grabbed a point for the Owls.

Wednesday's next match in the Championship, a trip to league-leaders Huddersfield, will also be screened live on Sky Sports, with a 12 noon kick off.
