When forming a partnership with Tom Lees, it would be wise to do everything possible to make it a successful one.

The centre half has emerged as one of the key players for the Owls since arriving at the club last summer.

And Keiren Westwood’s injury problems have seen him arguably become THE key man so far this season – a fact emphasised by his status as the only ever-present in Carlos Carvalhal’s consistently rotated matchday line-ups.

Lees was handed a new partner on Tuesday night in Michael Turner, who made his debut against Bolton.

And the on-loan Norwich City centre half – who comes up against former club Fulham this afternoon – was pleased with his debut alongside Lees, which brought a clean sheet.

“I thought we got on well straightaway,” Turner said. “He has played every game this season for the club, he’s a strong player and has done well.

“I would like to think our partnership can be good. I played against him last season once, and he had a good game then.

“I have heard good things about him, and have come in to see what a good defender he is.

“Clean sheets are about having a good understanding between players, players knowing each other’s roles, what they can and can’t do.”

Turner looks set to make his Hillsborough bow this afternoon against a Fulham side he spent two months on loan with last season.

He said: “It’ll be my first game at Hillsborough and I’m very much looking forward to it.

“Fulham have made quite a few additions and bought some good players.

“I really enjoyed my time with them. It was only a couple of months but they’re an excellent club. That time has gone now and it’s a new chapter for me here.

“I think they have picked up in the last few games, picked up a couple of wins and will come here full of confidence.

“But we are at home and if we show what we’re about and continue to put in the performance levels from the last two games, I’m confident we can get a result.

“I’m just looking forward to building on by first game.”
