SHEFFIELD Wednesday are still tracking Charlton Athletic midfielder Jose Semedo, The Star understands.
Manager Gary Megson has stated his desire to recruit the 26-year-old, who is out of contract and unlikely to sign a new deal at The Valley.
Owls vice-chairman and chief executive Paul Aldridge has met with the defensive midfielder’s representatives in recent weeks, as Wednesday hope to beat off competition from Crystal Palace for Semedo’s signature.
An unknown Portuguese club are also reported to be interested in Semedo, who was named Charlton’s player of the year last season.
Despite having swooped for David Prutton, Megson is determined to increase his options in the centre of midfield for next season.
