LEROY Lita says Sheffield Wednesday are ready for the fight to stay in the ‘toughest league in the world’.

The Owls face an important weekend in their battle to avoid the drop back into League One from the Championship with a home match against Barnsley on Saturday before the trip to Bristol City on Easter Monday.

And while the results won’t decide their fate completely a couple of positive outcomes will go a long way to securing survival - starting with the Reds’ visit to Hillsborough.

Lita, who is on loan at the Owls from Premier League Swansea until the end of the season, said: “Everyone is ready and looking forward to it.

“Barnsley pass the ball well and have been in a good run of form. They’ll be a good team and a tough team.

“But this is a tough league. I think it’s the toughest league in the world, every team can beat anyone else.”

Lita, aged 28, has been in good form for Wednesday since scoring on his debut in the 2-1 win at Charlton Athletic on January 26.

Further goals followed in homes wins against Brighton and Crystal Palace in February. However, March has so far been goalless in four matches for Lita as Wednesday lost three out of four games against promotion-chasing teams.

Now, as Wednesday begin to play clubs who are closer in the table to them, Lita says he’s comfortable with the form the Owls are in.

He said: “In our last two we’ve won one (at Leicester) and lost one (home against Cardiff) so it’s not too bad.

“We go into every game we play with the same attitude.

“The manager (Dave Jones) has the same messages no matter who it is.”
