Midfielder Jose Semedo has today signed a new deal with Sheffield Wednesday.
The 29-year-old, who has made 107 appearances for the Owls since joining the club from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2011, has penned a one-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months.
He took part in pre-season training for the first time today.
Semedo formed a promising partnership with Kieran Lee in the middle of the park last term as the Owls climbed out of the relegation zone and went on to preserve their Championship status.
However, injury cut short Semedo’s season. The last of his 25 outings came against Wigan Athletic in February when he was carried off on a stretcher after he fractured his tibula and sustained ankle ligament damage in the second half of the team’s 3-0 defeat at Hillsborough.
Semedo becomes the latest player to commit his future to Wednesday, with Chris Kirkland having penned a one-year contract earlier this week.
