Sheffield Wednesday's strength in depth '˜frightening'

Adam Reach says the return from injury of Lucas Joao and Marco Matias with the holiday season looming large will provide a huge boost to what he describes as a squad with '˜frightening strength in depth'.

Wednesday have been without the services of Matias for all of this campaign while Joao hasn’t featured since the 1-1 draw with Brentford at the end of August.

Portuguese international striker, Joao, could be in line for at least a place on the bench when Wednesday return to action at Fulham on Saturday following the international break.

Matias, meanwhile should be back in full training at the end of this month after suffering a groin injury just before the campaign began.

And according to Reach the duo’s return will be a welcome one with such a busy period on the horizon for Championship sides.

“The strength in depth in this squad is frightening at times,” he said. “When everybody is fit and challenging for the positions, it is only a good thing for Sheffield Wednesday.”

On his own contribution, he adds: “It always takes time to settle in but I feel I am growing game by game. I’m settling in with the team and finding my feet in numerous positions. I’m trying to improve every day and hopefully I will get better and better.”
