For Sheffield Wednesday to pick up a positive result at Middlesbrough come 5pm on Saturday, it is imperative they keep free-scoring Spanish striker Kike quiet.

Enrique Garcia Martinez, otherwise known as Kike, grabbed his third goal in four outings as Boro came-from-behind to win 2-1 at Bolton Wanderers in midweek.

The 24-year-old moved to Teesside from Murcia this summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £3million.

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka said: “Kike is very important for the team but I said the same thing after our first game at home to Birmingham, the most important thing against Bolton was the performance of the team. Without the work of all the lads it would have been impossible for him to score that goal.

“He’s very important and the other lads know that when we work and create a chance, he’s going to be there and he’s going to score. We have to now keep going in the same way and keep working.

“It’s the same for Kike. He’s only been here one month and he has to keep working to improve every day because we know how difficult this competition is.”

The victory leaves Boro with two wins from three matches, having lost 1-0 at Leeds United last weekend. Karanka said he was “very happy” to get back to winning ways at Bolton.

“The team showed we have spirit and everyone worked until the last second,” he added.
