SHEFFIELD Wednesday have cause to keep an eye on Portugal in Euro 2012.
The semi-finalists’ keeper is the one they will have to beat next month.
He is Rui Patricio, who plays for the Owls’ friendly opponents, Sporting Lisbon.
The clubs meet on July 22 during a week’s work in Portugal for Dave Jones’s men.
Patricio is his country’s first choice and he played in the 1-0 win against the Czech Republic which put them into this Wednesday’s semi-final against Spain.
Sporting are the third most successful club in Portugal football history, behind only Benfica and Porto, so it was some compliment when they asked to play the Owls.
Jones explained: “We were due to play one of the smaller Portuguese clubs but Sporting came knocking.
“I’ve played them before and it’s nice they remembered.”
The former Cardiff and Wolves boss has many contacts abroad, in countries such as Portugal, Spain and France, which could be useful whenever he is on the lookout for new players,
