Wednesday are aiming to tighten up defensively as they head to Derby today on the back of their 5-2 romp against Reading.

Although last week’s victory was exhilarating, Matty Fryatt has revealed that the club have been working on eradicating the errors that gave the Royals chances.

Fryatt believes that the team will need more of the steel and organisation that earned them good points at venues such as Brighton and Bolton.

He admitted: “There were elements where Reading caused us problems; their men came in off the line and they had someone overlapping.

“Fortunately we got the goals and it seemed easier than it was. We got away with it. Some of the the errors - we have worked on them this week.”

On loan from Hull he remains unsure about his future: “I’ve been delighted with the way things have gone here; I just want to do it for myself and the team I represent, at the minute obviously Sheffield Wednesday.

“I’ve no long term aims, as such; it’s not so much for the benefit of Hull me wanting to do well; I want to do well for myself and the team; so far I think I’m doing that and hopefully I’ll keep on doing the same for this month and take it from there, really.”

He added: “Obviously the onus will be on Derby to attack. But they might leave space for us on the break. With the wide players we’ve got, hopefully their pace and power comes into play.

“Hopefully we can keep it tight at the back and be a threat on the counter attack.”
