Kieran Lee insists the campaign is far from over for Sheffield Wednesday.
Victory over Huddersfield Town this weekend would see Wednesday mathematically safe from relegation while they sit 14 points and six places off the final play-off berth.
Though they have little of real note to play for, versatile midfielder Lee says the Owls squad is determined to pick up as many points as possible before the end of the season and have not targeted a specific points total from the final seven games.
“We take each game as it comes, believing we can win and picking up as many points as we can and see where that takes us,” Lee said.
“We are professional enough to know there are a lot of points to play for.
“We know we have got to keep putting in performances for the fans who keep coming to watch us.”
The Owls fought deep into injury time to beat Rotherham United last weekend and have another local derby this week as Huddersfield visit S6.
Striker Caolan Lavery balked at suggestions the derbies have come at the right time to motivate the Wednesday squad.
He said: “We’re all professionals and we’ll keep going right to the end.
“It’s nice to have these games because they create a buzz for everyone, the players and the supporters.
“But we don’t need any added motivation because we are motivated enough any way.”
“The way we beat Rotherham was fantastic but I’m sure we’d have fought and fought no matter who we were playing.
“There’s lads playing for their futures and we’re all determined to finish the season as strongly as we can.”
