Top-scorer Fernando Forestieri is determined to make amends in Sheffield Wednesday’s televised Championship showdown with leaders Hull City tonight.

The 12-goal Argentine forward is expected to return to action, having sat-out Tuesday’s home draw with Queens Park Rangers due to suspension. He served a one-match ban following his sending off at Preston North End.

“Fernando has been fantastic for us,” winger Ross Wallace told The Star. “We were disappointed we didn’t have him for the last game but there was nobody more disappointed than Fernando himself.

“He will be itching to get back and be full of energy.”

While Forestieri is set to be recalled up front, Sam Hutchinson is also pushing for a recall after shrugging off a knee problem.

Head coach Carlos Carvalhal said: “Hull are probably the best team in the competition. Everything about them, the quality of the players, the organisation, the coach, who understands the competition and his players. They know the way to play, and it’s very clear. That’s why they are in the position they are, at this moment.

“It will be a very interesting game, Hull are on of the more compact teams in the Championship.

“They have the best defence in the competition, we are one of the best attacks, so it will be interesting.

“I am not saying we will play all the time in attack, and them defence, of course not. The two teams have different characteristics.”

Jeremy Helan has joined Wolves on loan for the remainder of the campaign, but the Owls have inserted a 24-hour recall clause in the deal which kicks in after 28 days.

Carvalhal has ruled out Helan leaving on a permanent basis.

“He’s our player,” he said. “On the left side, we have brought in Aiden McGeady and is doing well.

“We don’t know what will happen in the future. I’m sure Jeremy will do well at Wolves and if we need him in the final part of the season we can recall him.”
