Left winger Paul McElroy is aiming to force his way into in the first-team picture at Sheffield Wednesday after agreeing a one-year deal with the Championship club.

The Northern Ireland youngster, released by Hull City at the end of last season, will officially become an Owls player on July 1.

McElroy, who can also be deployed at left-back, said: “I played in a couple of trial games earlier this year and thankfully did well.

“I was really impressed with the place and I already think I have a good feel for Sheffield Wednesday.

“I want to get a good pre-season under the belt now and my aim is to play in the first-team for Wednesday.”

McElroy is likely to be a member of Wednesday’s development squad next season. He joins fellow new arrivals Matt Young, Ed Sanders and Ryan Croasdale.
