Sheffield Wednesday have landed Burton Albion winger Jacques Maghoma on a Bosman free.

The 25-year-old will join the Owls officially on a two-year contract on July 1 after his Burton deal expires.

Maghoma scored 18 goals last season and helped the Brewers to reach the League Two play-offs.

The speedy wide man is understood to have been a target for several clubs and was linked with Middlesbrough.

He said: “This is a massive move for me and, having walked into the stadium, I can’t wait to get started.

“I really enjoyed my four years at Burton but the time is right for me to move on to the next stage of my career, and this is it.

“I am a very ambitious player, I always work hard on my game from the left and from the right and I always want to improve.

“I am very confident I will do that at Sheffield Wednesday.”

Maghoma spent two years as trainee at Spurs and is a Democratic Republic of Congo international.
