Will Keane is convinced new Sheffield Wednesday advisor Jonathan Hill will be a big asset in their quest to get back in the Premier League.
Eyebrows were raised when the Owls added former Manchester United academy coach Hill to their ‘sporting director by committee’ earlier this month.
While at Old Trafford, Hill worked closely with the Red Devils’ next generation, helping develop players such as Tom Cleverley, Jonny Evans and Danny Welbeck.
Hill boasts an impressive coaching CV, having worked at Wigan Athletic, Manchester City, the Jordanian Football Association - where he was in charge of all the national youth teams from under-eights to U-20s - Norwegian top-flight side Tromso FC and Fulham.
United striker Keane, who enjoyed a loan spell with Wednesday this season, worked with Hill nearly a decade ago.
“He was a good coach to me and I enjoyed working with him,” said Keane. “Jonathan has got good experience at some top clubs so there is no reason why he can’t be a success at Wednesday.
“At United, there’s always a certain way of playing and I’m sure Jonathan will come in with his own ideas and want to play the game in the right way. He would have been used to playing a good style of football at United so I’m sure he’s going to want to implement that.”
