Sheffield Wednesday have today confirmed they will take on Serbian SuperLiga side FK Čukarički in a pre-season friendly as part of their five-day training camp in Slovenia next month.

The Owls will lock horns with the Belgrade-based outfit on Wednesday, July 23, at the Ptuj City Stadium. The kick-off time has yet to be finalised.

Stuart Gray’s men fly out to Slovenia’s second largest city Maribor on Saturday July 19, a day after their warm-up match at Bury.

It promises to be a good work-out for Wednesday’s players as FK Cukaricki gained promotion to the Serbian top flight in the 2012/13 season. They went on to finish fifth in their first year back in the SuperLiga, meaning the club will compete in the first qualifying stage of the UEFA Europa League.

Wednesday’s full pre-season schedule:

Saturday July 12: York v Owls (3pm)

Friday July 18: Bury v Owls (7.45pm)

Wednesday July 23: Owls v FK Cukaricki

Sunday July 27: Doncaster Rovers v Owls (2pm)

Wednesday July 30: Owls v Newcastle (7.45pm)

Saturday August 2: Barnsley v Owls (1pm)
