Towering Owls striker Atdhe Nuhiu has been backed to rediscover his goal-scoring touch over the festive period.

The Austrian forward has netted just twice in 14 appearances in his first season in English football. It has been nearly three months since Nuhiu last found the back of the net but former Wednesday captain Lee Bullen is convinced there is more to come from the 24-year-old as the Championship strugglers face the prospect of playing five matches in the space of 16 days during the festive period.

Bullen, who is assisting stand-in Owls boss Stuart Gray, has told The Star: “Attey [Atdhe Nuhiu] is a frustrated figure. It would give him a huge lift if he could get on the score-sheet. I would be more worried if Attey stopped getting into good positions. As long as he keeps doing the right things, his luck will change.

“I speak to Attey quite a lot. He was well off fitnesss wise when he first arrived but he is slowly but surely getting there now. His work rate is there. He is chasing people down and trying hard for the team. He just needs to show a little bit of composure in the final third and hopefully things will then take off for him.”
