New boy Jacques Maghoma believes that Wednesday can aid his ambition of getting back into the Premier League.
The winger was a starlet at Spurs before spending four years at Burton Albion.
But his oustanding season with the Brewers in 2012-13 has put him back on an upward path.
“For me, it’s always been about getting back into the Premier League.” the 25-year-old told The Star.
“I want to push myself, test my ability and character week in, week out, and see how far I can go.
“I want to do it with a good club - and I feel that Sheffield Wednesday are a massive club.
“If I get back into the Premier League with this club, I’ll be more than happy.”
Maghoma was a target for several Championship clubs and is confident that he can succeed at this level.
He was convinced by Dave Jones of the Owls’ ambition and potential and he says this was the major factor in him choosing Hillsborough.
He added: “If we do get into the top six, it will be brilliant. We have a good squad and the togetherness is there.
“We lost in the play-off semi-finals at Burton. Hopefully, here we can do better.”
Jones regards Maghoma as a quick forward who can play in different positions, though he is recognised mostly as a winger who scored 18 goals last season.
The player says: “One of my strengths is pace. I also have a lot more attributes - skill, and the ability to beat opponents,, and most importantly I can get goals and win games.
“I can play left or right or in the centre, or off the front man, I don’t mind which.”
