Morgan Fox hopes his performances in Sheffield Wednesday’s play-off push can lead international recognition.

Despite winning seven caps at Wales Under-21 level, the left-back is still waiting to make his senior debut for his country.

Fox earned his first senior Wales call-up in September 2015, with Chris Coleman including him in his squad for their European Championship 2016 qualifying clashes against Cyprus and Israel.

He told The Star: “It is an ambition of mine (to play for Wales) and hopefully that will come.

“I’ve always said that if I’m doing well with my football here and playing games then hopefully I will get that opportunity.

“If I keep playing and doing well for Wednesday, hopefully I will get recognised. My main focus at the moment is on helping Wednesday.”

Fox said the Wales selectors are “always at games and watching” players.

The 23-year-old has impressed since swapping Charlton Athletic for the Owls last January. He has made seven starts and was on target in the Owls’ comprehensive win over Norwich City.

“As a team, we have been playing well and that always helps and makes it easier to settle in,” he said. “Performances and results have been good as well. We have had lots of wins.”

When asked how many more points Wednesday require to confirm a play-off place, Fox replied: “We just need to get as many points as we can. It’s just the way it is in this league as there are so many games. If you put back-to-back wins together, a lot can change.”
