Sheffield Wednesday have re-signed midfielder Lewis McGugan on loan from Watford until the end of the season.
McGugan, a product of Nottingham Forest’s youth system, played seven times for the Owls towards the end of 2014.
The 26-year-old becomes Wednesday’s third signing of transfer deadline day, following in the footsteps of Sergiu Bus and Marnick Vermijl.
McGugan, who has 18 months left on his Watford contract, has not been training with the Hornets’ first-team for several weeks. During his first 15 months at Vicarage Road, McGugan featured 44 times but he only played in one of Slavisa Jokanovic’s initial six games in charge.
McGugan said: “It’s great to be back. I enjoyed my first spell. Everyone around the place made me feel very welcome. I’m happy it’s done.
“It’s been a tough last four days with the ups and downs of not knowing whether it would get over the line but I’m glad it’s done now and I can concentrate on the rest of the season to try and give my best for this club.”
McGugan is expected to be included in the Owls’ squad for Saturday’s home league game against Cardiff.
