GARY Madine says Wednesday will miss right back Lewis Buxton in today’s relegation battle with Bristol City but insists the Owls can pick up another three points.
Madine opened the scoring on Saturday in the derby against Barnsley as Wednesday won 2-1.
But he also missed a penalty and then saw teammate Buxton sent off three minutes from time for a second yellow card as Barnsley nearly snatched a draw.
Buxton had earlier laid on Madine’s goal with a superb cross that left the striker delighted with the service.
He said: “I thought everyone was outstanding including the fans. It gives everyone a boost when they come in their numbers.
“I thrive on service. I’ve got to thank Lewis Buxton for that ball, it was on a plate asking to be put in.
“We’ll go to Bristol and take the same kind of performance and same work levels and we’ll be alright.
“The gaffer has said we’ve nine cup finals left - we’ve won one.
“We need to go with the same attitude and hopefully we’ll get the same result.”
Madine’s goal was his first since he put Wednesday 2-1 up against Bristol City in December at Hillsborough.
However, he went on to concede a penalty as the Robins fought back to win 3-2.
“We owe them one because I think we were by far the superior team when they came here and they took three-points off us,” he said.
“Lewis will be missed on Monday because I thrive on balls like that.”
Dave Jones may look to utilise his squad at Ashton Gate. New loan signing Steve Howard could get in the match-day 18 if fellow loanee Stuart Holden has any reaction to his first start of the season since recovering from a series of injuries.
