Miguel Llera wants to stay in English football after being released by the Owls.
He is taking a break in his home town of Seville, Spain, but plans to return to the UK - to play preferably for a Championship club.
The former Charlton, MK Dons and Blackpool centre half has worked for eight years in this country; he has two young children and says that he and his family have settled well here. “When you have left Spain it is difficult to go back - a lot of clubs there are going into administration; it is is easier for me to get a club in England,” he told The Star.
“I have several options, I have to decide what best for me. I am waiting for news, I don’t want to rush. I am looking forward to a new challenge.”
The 34-year-old defender is “disappointed” to have been released by the Owls. He feels he was good enough to have made more than his 21 starts this season.
“I think I did my job and deserved more credit. All the decisions that were taken about me, I accepted, even though I did not agree with a lot of them.”
