CHRIS Lines believes the wing wizardry of Michail Antonio and Jermaine Johnson can help Sheffield Wednesday make Hillsborough a fortress once again.
Third from bottom Bristol City, who are just one place ahead of the Owls, are welcomed to S6 today with the winners hopeful of climbing out of the relegation zone if Barnsley are beaten at promotion hopefuls Leicester City.
Lines, signed from the Robins’ city rivals Bristol Rovers last season by Gary Megson, is hoping Wednesday can re-create some of the magic of their League One campaign by attacking Bristol with wingers Johnson and Antonio in the same side.
It’s something manager Dave Jones has seemed reluctant to do but Lines, while deferring to Jones’ position, thinks is exciting.
He said: “Last season they were on fire when you look at JJ and Michail. We’ve got Danny Mayor as well who is another option.
“Especially at home they can make a difference, but that’s not for me to say. I’m not the manager.
“But as a midfielder if you have those two either side, you can feed them the ball and on their day they’ll destroy any defence in this league. If they start doing that it will help us as a team. Them two as players, they have to step up to the plate and produce that form they were producing last season, which can be said for everyone on the team.
“It’s always good to play with two wingers though.”
Bristol are level on points with Wednesday but Lines says he won’t be underestimating them: “Every single game in this league is difficult having come up from a league below, whether you’re Sheffield Wednesday or not.
“I don’t think there are any ‘should wins’ in this league. Anyone on their day can beat anyone.”
