Caolan Lavery’s call-up to the Northern Ireland Under 21 squad is another feather in the cap for the Owls development policy.
The 20-year-old striker has been named for a friendly against Denmark in Dungannon on Wednesday, August 14.
There has also been a boost for Danny Mayor, pictured above, right, who played alongside Lavery at Southend last season when both were on loan there.
Mayor, 22, has returned to first-team training and match action with the development squad after a brief lay-off and played for the Under 21s in their 1-1 draw with Rotherham Sunday League champions AFP at Athersley Rec, Barnsley.
Dave Jones has already expressed his satisfaction with the progress of several young players.
Lavery played for part of the second half in the first-team’s 3-0 friendly win at Stockport and went on as a sub in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Chesterfield.
