CHRIS Kirkland today ended speculation about his future by confirming that he is staying at Hillsborough.
The keeper has missed the club’s pre-season week in Portugal though he had agreed a two-year deal with the club.
An undisclosed personal matter arose which seemed to threaten his Wednesday career.
But today he said: “There was a private matter I had to deal with and I am pleased to say that it is now resolved.
“The manager gave me the time I needed and now I am looking forward to joining the squad for pre-season next week.
“I would like to thank the manager, the chairman and the vice-chairman for helping my situation by being so completely understanding.
“I would also like to say thank you to the Sheffield Wednesday supporters for their patience.
“I can assure them I am 110 per cent committed to the club and really looking forward to next week and the Championship season ahead.”
Kirkland is expected to rejoin training after the Owls return from Portugal this week.
