The Owls have completed the signing of defender Dejan Kelhar on a short term deal.
The Slovenian centre half has been on trial with Wednesday for much of the summer and has played in the friendlies against FC Arsenal Tula, Doncaster Rovers and Newcastle United.
Kelhar last played for Red Star Belgrade, helping them to the league title in Serbia during his 15 appearances.
The 30-year-old also has six caps for his national team.
“I have a lot of experience across Europe playing in Israel, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Serbia and Slovenia but never England,” Kelhar told the Owls’ official site.
“I have spoken to players who tell me great things about English football so I am really excited with this move.
“I have been with the team over the summer, I have played in games and I am pleased that the coach has seen enough in me to offer me a contract.”
Kelhar will wear the number 44 shirt for the Owls.
