CAPTAIN Jose Semedo is backing the Owls to bounce back and insists that the squad’s confidence has not been diminished by two successive defeats.
The midfield player relishes tonight’s Yorkshire derby test against former League One promotion rivals Huddersfield and is sure that the team can improve after the away slip-ups at Crystal Palace and Brighton.
“We have been conceding goals, but there is nothing that we cannot adjust in our game, I am sure,” he said.
“We have new faces. We are all honest players, good players. I think we are quickly going to get back on track.
“Confidence is always there. We believe in ourselves.
“We can’t control the results. What we can do is do our best for everyone and the club and try to bring happiness to our fans.
“We’re going to do the best we can to get back on track. That’s the most beautiful thing about football, you always have another chance. Our next chance is against Huddersfield.”
Semedo echoes Dave Jones’ view that the Owls always knew it would be a challenging season in the Championship:
“I think it has gone quite well, apart from losing two on the bounce,” says the Portuguese star. “We have a lot of new players, we have had to get used to each other and are still working on some peices that the manager wants.
“We knew it was never going to be easy. Losing has made us think a little bit.
“In the Championship you have more quality players, if you miss one pass it can cost you a goal, That does not happen so often in League One. There are more quality players in the Championship.”
Semedo does not think that there will be a repeat of last season’s 4-4 home draw with Huddersfield: “But you know for sure it is going to be a big atmosphere. Last season’s game was incredible, crazy.”
