One is an iconic Portuguese footballer, beloved by supporters and team mates alike – and the other is Cristiano Ronaldo.
Sheffield Wednesday fan favourite Jose Semedo has been enjoying part of his post-season break alongside his good friend Ronaldo.
Semedo has spoken of his friendship with the Read Madrid star and Ballon d’Or winner on numerous occasions, plus Ronaldo’s desire to watch him play at Hillsborough.
And pictures of the pair, along with other friends, spending time on a yacht in Saint Tropez have proved incredibly popular on the internet.
Semedo has been offered a new deal with the Owls after reaching the end of his current contract.
And the Star understands the 30-year-old is fully expected to sign up for more with Wednesday.
Much of the playing, coaching and administrative staff at the club are on holiday this week while chairman Dejphon Chansiri is representing Wednesday at the Football League’s AGM in Portugal.
It has meant for a quiet week at Hillsborough with no announcements expected on the futures of the likes of Semedo, along with fellow out-of-contract players Chris Maguire, Chris Kirkland, Glenn Loovens and Kieran Lee.
The fact the Portuguese midfielder was chosen to model the new Owls home kit this week demonstrates the club’s confidence that he will accept the offer of a new contract.
And Semedo himself has spoken on social media to suggest he will be back with the club next season.
While he appeared to enjoy the high life in the south of France, Semedo insists he has been putting in plenty of hard work to prepare for next season.
“My time with @Cristiano was much more enjoyable knowing how hard I have been working for #swfc - full of motivation and drive,” Semedo wrote on Twitter.
Last month he tweeted: “Looking forward to next season. Already gearing up. My holiday is gonna be spent on the treadmill. #swfc love it! Will work hard!!”
