sheffield Wednesday’s search for a loan striker ended today with the signing of Stoke City’s Mamady Sidibe.
The deal is for a month and he will be in contention for a debut against Leicester on Saturday.
Owls boss Dave Jones has been trying to bolster his strike department and last week admitted that he had three or four targets.
Among them was Sunderland’s Connor Wickham but the Black Cats refused to let him go out on loan.
Sidibe, a 32-year-old Mali international, arrived on the British scene with Swansea in July, 2001, and scored seven goals in 26 league starts.
He moved on to Gillingham and spent three years there, making 115 appearances and scoring 13 goals.
The striker joined Stoke on a free transfer in the summer of 2005.
He has made 186 appearances for City, 48 of them in the Premier League, and scored 26 goals. He also played an important part in the club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2007/08.
