Stuart Gray has had enough of listening to opposition managers heaping praise on his Owls side.

Wednesday have been paid numerous compliments by Championship bosses following their impressive start to the campaign.

But Gray wants the plaudits to stop – because that would likely mean the Owls were winning more games.

“The thing I’m getting fed up of is when we’re not winning, opposition managers giving us compliments,” Gray said.

“I don’t want that going on too much because I’d rather be winning the games.

“People aren’t as quick to pay you compliments when you’ve just beaten them.

“I remember sampling it in the Premier League that a lot of managers would beat you and them compliment you, saying you’re a good side.

“It doesn’t make you feel much better when you’ve not got the win.

“But I’m not taking anything away from the players because they deserve the praise they’ve been getting.

“And I know the people who have been talking about us are all genuine people.”

The Owls chief will be hoping under fire Bolton boss Dougie Freedman is not quick to off praise this afternoon.

And he believes Wednesday will be the favourites.

Gray said: “We’ll go there with a lot of confidence after going to Brighton, Middlesbrough and Burnley and getting three wins.

“We’re higher in the league so you’d have to class us as favourites.”

Sam Hutchinson and Kieran Lee have been ruled out while Hallam Hope is a doubt for the trip.

Keiren Westwood will be assessed late after suffering from tonsillitis.
